PIONEER Stays Safe in St Margarets Bay

Self-discharging bulk carrier PIONEER  shown inbound in the Narrows,Halifax,Nova Scotia circa 2008 prudently spent several windy days anchored in St Margarets Bay after leaving Halifax with a load of gypsum for Baltimore,Md. Once clear of the shipping lanes she altered course and came to anchor in St Margarets Bay a wise move considering the wind and seastate which struck the Region several hours after her decision was taken.
With the wind and seastate considerably reduced we see on the AIS this AM that PIONEER had departed from her hide hole in St Margarets Bay and was off Cape Sable,N.S.  AM 9th March enroute Baltimore. Others have paid dearly failing to heed Mother Natures fury viz: Gold Bond Conveyor ,March, 1993 and S.S.Novadoc,  March,1947 both vessels sailing from NovasCotia fully loaded with gypsum and both lost with all hands.
